Gladstone Women’s Health strives to increase the safety and wellbeing of clients exposed to domestic and family violence, sexual violence and social justice issues that impact on their health and wellbeing. We provides services across an expansive geographic area within Gladstone Region and Banana Shire (Biloela area) of Central Queensland.
Our women’s services include a range of free services including:
- General women’s counselling;
- Women’s domestic and family violence counselling and support;
- Women’s sexual assault counselling and support;
- Men’s support and a behaviour change program located separately from our GWH offices in Gladstone and Biloela;
- Remote counselling and support throughout the region;
- A range of health and wellbeing education and other social activities for women;
- Court support services in Gladstone and Biloela for eligible people who have experienced domestic and family violence and sexual assault. (View our Court Advocacy & Support Program for more information);
- Pap smear and women’s health clinics via a partnership with Queensland Health;
- Referrals and other support services for women escaping domestic violence;
- Child and youth counselling for children of women escaping violence;
- Counselling to females age 15 years and over who require assistance to achieve better health and well-being;
- Community awareness and education events;
- Puberty workshops for young adolescents and their parents (Puberty Blues and Puberty Clues);
- Industry and business workshops or presentations to raise awareness of domestic and sexual violence and supports available; and
- Advocacy for women’s equality and wellbeing nationally, state-wide and locally.
